The residence of the President of the Republic of Poland. Castle in Wisła - Czarny on the slope of Zadni Gronia, was built in the years 1929 - 1931. The author of the design was the outstanding architect and restorer Adolf Szyszko - Bohusz. The object was created as a gift of the Silesian people for the head of state. The Castle, in addition to the actual residence, also includes the Lower Castle, functioning from the beginning as an outbuilding and a wooden chapel dedicated to St. Jadwiga Śląska, which was established before the construction of the residence in 1909. Above the castle there is a wooden chapel dedicated to St. Jadwiga Śląska from 1909. It was built on the initiative of Archduke Frederick Habsburg, near a wooden hunting castle (not preserved). Ready wooden elements brought from Przyszkowice near Rybnik were used to erect it. At the turn of 1930 and 1931, there were conditions for the Castle to be transferred by the Silesian Provincial Council to the State Treasury at the disposal of the Civil Registry of the President of the Republic of Poland. By resolution of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers of December 30, 1930, the Castle built in Wisła by the Silesian Treasury in the area of the former Cieszyn Chamber was a representative building and it was handed over to the President of the Republic of Poland and his successors. In the 1930s, the Castle of the President of the Republic of Poland, as a representative building intended for the highest state authorities, entered the register of such objects as The Wawel in Krakow, the Royal Castle and Łazienki in Warsaw, the hunting palace in Spała, the palace in Białowieża or the castle in Poznań. President Ignacy Mościcki first came to the Castle on January 21, 1931. From then on, he visited it regularly, at least twice a year. He willingly participated in events that took place then in the Vistula and Beskids. President Aleksander Kwasniewski has taken the initiative to restore the historical function of the Historic Castle Complex of the President of the Republic of Poland, thanks to which he now officially serves as the residence of the head of state. Lower Castle now functions as a hotel and restaurant. Entrance to the chapel is possible only for masses and services on designated days, i.e. Sundays and public holidays. The chapel is one of the points of the Wooden Architecture Trail.
